National Swimming team set to be finalised

ZIMBABWE is finalising the national team that will represent the country at the CANA Zone four swimming championships to be held in Zambia in April.

The national swimming gala which took place in Harare and Bulawayo last week saw 215 swimmers battling it out to please the selection panel for the team to represent the country in Zambia.

However, Zimbabwe Swimming is yet to announce the team, amid confirmation that two swimmers per age group will be selected.

“The National Team for the Cana Zone four championships aggregations has been sort from swimmers once we receive those in the middle of March a selection will be done by selection panel because this is a different gala because we are allowed two swimmers per age group and we have a maximum of 40 swimmers whether we select 40 swimmers depends on how many applied and what age groups because we are not allowed to send any extras,” said Tracey Doorman, Zimbabwe Swimming chairperson.

Meanwhile, the 40-member squad will travel to South Africa next month to compete at the South African championships which will be used as preparations for the CANA Zone iv championships in April.
