THE Zimbabwe Women’s Rugby Lady Academy sevens team finished third in the Hermanus sevens tournament after thumping the South African side Busy Bees 33-0 in Cape Town this Saturday.

The Lady Cheetahs entered the Hermanus show opening with a clash with the Titans and thrashed the South African side 26-05 before losing 5-0 to Dames White heading to a lunch break.

Zimbabwe bounced back to create havoc in their last encounter with Busy Bees and thumped their opposite number 33-0 to end the tourney on third place.

SA Gold finished at the pole position and Dames White came second.

The 12-member team was led by skipper Margaret Magwaro under the watchful eye of coach, Dereck Chiwara.

The two-day tourney was a buildup to the women’s African Cup Sevens penciled for Tunisia in April.

The Lady Cheetahs qualified for the women’s African Cup Sevens after they impressively won all their four matches at the pre-qualifiers tourney in Maseru Lesotho early this year.
