Former Caps United and Warriors defender, Charles Yohanne has died following a suspected car-jacking incident in South Africa.
The South African police confirmed that the retired footballer, who was aged 48, was found dead in Soweto this Monday in after a car-jacking incident.
Yohanne played for Bidvest Wits in the South African topflight before he coached the junior team.
In the Warriors, Yohane was part of the national team that made their maiden AFCON appearance in Tunisia in 2004.
Since his football retirement, Yohane has remained in South Africa, pursuing other things.
Coached by Steve Kwashi, the dominant Caps United class of 1996 won the first League Championship for Caps United since Independence.
Madzibaba, as Yohane was known then by his legion of fans, went on to play a starring role in national team colours when he scored in the Warriors’ 3-nil win over Sudan in Khartoum in 1997 in the AFCON 1998 qualifiers.
Sudan went on to withdraw from the tournament dealing Zimbabwe a heavy blow.
Yohane was a regular Warriors player and was part of the 2004 squad that qualified for their first-ever AFCON Tournament hosted by Tunisia.
