THE race for survival and success in the Bulawayo Basketball League continued this weekend as the men’s and women’s teams fought tooth and nail.
Khanyisile Courts was home to the mouthwatering encounters.
In the men’s A League, Clippers, who have been struggling for form, hit the ground running after they managed to thump City Knights 54-33, with Kudzai Mugezi scoring 27 points for the winning side.
On Sunday, a close contest between Highlanders and NUST saw Highlanders win the hard-fought battle by a close margin of 43-41.
Despite the loss, NUST put an impressive show, judging from the past games.
In another match, Tabo Mathe was the hero for Lakers A after he scored 14 points in the match where Lakers outshone Legends to claim the top spot.
Legends were thumped by 40 to 5.
In the women’s league, bottom-placed NUST Women continued with their poor form after they were massively chopped by Angels 81- 28.
The win saw Angels move up two places to 4th position.
Lakers Glen Lodge proved why they are a team to beat after they put an impressive show against City Royals.
Lakers Glen Lodge managed to win the match by 46-41.
The victory saw the side maintain their 3rd position in an 8-team race.
Table toppers, Lakers, were unstoppable after they managed to dispatch Highlanders by 52-11, with Jacqueline Phenduka being the shining star after hitting 14 points for Lakers Women.
Second-placed Mavericks continued with their title aspirations after they managed to raze down Lakers Mzansi by 67-41.
