THE Mighty Warriors have received a morale booster ahead of their last qualifying round for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations against Botswana this month after the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe handed over kit bags to the girls this Tuesday.

“As you prepare for AFCON we came to support you as Footballers Union of Zimbabwe. As you know we are here to represent the team and we have brought a little something in support of the Mighty Warriors,” FUZ administrator Vaida Makotsa said.

The Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Honourable Tino Machakaire expressed gratitude to FUZ, adding that government is in full support of the Mighty Warriors as they seek to conquer Africa.

He said: “We want to thank the sponsors that managed to sponsor our Mighty Warriors and we’re hoping that they are going to make it on the 18th of February match against Botswana and we want to assure them that as the government, we’re behind them we’re supporting them. We wish them the best.”

The Ministry of Youth Sport, Arts and Recreation has also chipped in by providing each player with football boots.

Sithethelelwe Sibanda’s charges will host Botswana in the first leg on the 18th of this month at the National Sports Stadium before travelling to Francistown for the second leg four days later.

The winner will qualify for the women’s continental showpiece penciled for Morocco in July, while teams that reach the semi-finals of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations will automatically book a place at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
