Harare province has selected a junior swimming team that will represent the province ahead of the Junior National Swimming Championships slated for Bulawayo next month.
After Harare Amateur Swimming hosted the junior championships over the weekend at Chisipite Pool, it became an opportune time to select a team ahead of the junior national swimming championship in Bulawayo and other future tournaments.
Highlands, Pirates Spartans, Harare Otters, Sharks, and Dorados battled for honours at the weekend which saw outstanding individuals booking a place in the team.
Harare Amateur Swimming selected eight exceptional junior swimmers from each team which will travel to Bulawayo for the junior nationals on the 12th to the 13th of next month.
“With regard to selection of our junior Harare team which will travel to Bulawayo on the 12th to 13th of March. We basically take the top 8 in each age group from the gala and over the season if there were exceptional swimmers. For a selection, we have done 2 normal galas and they have represented their clubs at Harare champs this weekend,” HAS board member, Nikki Johnsen explained.
Bulawayo also hosted its own provincial championships and Highlanders continues to dominate after defending the overall cup, while the Dorados won the aggregate cup at the swimming gala.
Teams from both main provinces will form a national team which will represent the nation in the South African tour in April.
