The Mighty Warriors have stepped up preparations for their Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier against Botswana after all the locally-based players trained this Friday morning.
Twenty-four players are in camp preparing for Zimbabwe’s AWCON qualifier against Botswana with the first leg set for the 18th of this month at the National Sports Stadium, while the return leg will be played on the 23rd in Francistown.
Experienced midfielder, Mavis Chirandu joined her teammates in training this Friday with the only exception among the locally based players being Dinah Banda, who is in Zambia for trials.
The foreign based quartet of captain, Emmaculate Msipa, Rudo Neshamba, Berita Kabwe and Danai Bhobho will join the team at the beginning of the international break on the14th.
Head coach, Sitethelelwe Sibanda is still sweating over the fitness of the players.
“Fitness is a big issue for the girls we really need to work hard on that we know the foreign based players will be in good condition and that will be a big boost for us, we really looking forward to having them and I wish we could have had them earlier,” Sibanda noted.
The winner between Zimbabwe and Botswana will join 11 other nations at the Africa Women Cup of Nations set for Morocco in July.
