Lady Chevrons vice-captain Josephine Nkomo joins English side

Zimbabwe women national cricket team vice-captain, Josephine Nkomo has become the latest player to secure a contract outside the country after being snapped up by England Cricket club side, Northumberland.

The all-rounder will join her new teammates in April and will play in the North East Premier League, which is the second tier of English cricket.

Nkomo had a very successful 2021 in national and provincial colours and the move comes as no surprise for the 25-year-old player.

The Lady Chevrons vice captain’s moves comes barely a week after her national team colleague, Modester Mupachikwa joined South London side Spencer Cricket Club.

The wicketkeeper will be playing in the English Premier Division after the club won the Southern League Championship.

Meanwhile, rising fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani is the only Zimbabwean player to enter the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction set for the 12th and 13th of this month in Bengaluru.

A total of 590 players will be up for sale at the two-day auction with 10 franchises bidding for the best.

Muzarabani, who is currently with the Multan Sultans in the on-going Pakistan Super League (PSL), is the only Chevrons player on the list of hopefuls.

If he finds takers during the auction, Muzarabani will become the fourth Zimbabwean after Tatenda Taibu, Ray Price and Brendan Taylor to be involved with the Indian Premier League.
