ROCKS dominated Eagles on the first day of the Logan Cup cricket competition at Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare after closing the day on 222 for one.
Innocent Kaia and Tadiwanashe Marumani 153-run partnership gave Rocks a solid start in their Logan Cup encounter against the Eagles.
Kaia looked the more confident of the two and went about his business with ease before he departed for 88.
The assured 19-year-old Marumani was joined by Ben Carren at the crease and two combined for 69 runs.
Carren was the more aggressive with 42 runs while Marumani continued with the grit that has earned him a national team test cap.
Eagles only had one positive and even Daniel Jakiel on his debut could do nothing to break the resistance of the Rocks second-wicket partnership as they closed the day on 221 for 1.
At Harare Sports Club it is was a different situation as 15 wickets fell on the first day of the match between tuskers and Mountaineers.
Tuskers batted first and were dismissed for a paltry 125 runs as Tendai Chatara took five wickets while Wellington Masakadza got four.
In reply, Mountaineers closed the day on 93 for four with Tony Munyonga batting on 13 together with Joylord Humbie who was on 7.
The two matches will resume this Tuesday morning.
