The Zimbabwe National Paralympic Committee (ZNPC) has crafted its roadmap for 2022 through a strategic plan draft set to reposition paralympics in the world of sport.

The Zimbabwe National Paralympics Committee held a strategic plan workshop in Harare this Sunday meant to shape and re-brand the governing of sports activities for persons with disabilities.

The issue of facilities and resources has been a major challenge pulling back Paralympians from taking part in various activities among elite countries, says Michael Bulagango, the Zimbabwe National Paralympic Committee president.

“As an organisation we don’t have facilities for our different sporting codes and that makes other facilities that are in existence very inaccessible for our athletes remember we have got athletes that have special needs like life supporting machines as well as sports equipment, we do not have resources to conduct regular training sessions during camps,” he said.

Going forward, the paralympics mother body hopes to bring up tournaments in talent identification to develop and nature paralympians to take part in international competitions.

ZNPC is also working to start the national championship tournaments for athletes to have more game time in preparation for the 2022 World Championships qualifiers set for the United States of America.
