THE Zimbabwe women’s sevens rugby team – the Lady Cheetahs – began the Africa cup sevens pre-qualifying tournament on a high note after thumping Lesotho 62-0 in Maseru this Saturday.
The Lady Cheetahs represented the country with pride after their stellar performance at the Africa Cup sevens pre-qualifying tournament as they dominated all of their matches.
The ladies opened their first round-robin encounter against the host as Carol Malenga was spot on after opening with a try 23 seconds into the game while Precious Chirinda made her debut score for the team.
Delivering a strong power play, Zimbabwe humiliated Lesotho 62-0.
It did not take long to get into their second match against Namibia, continuing with their giant killing form as they already led the first half with 24-0.
The second encounter saw Precious Marange boosting the game after showing off her prowess ending the game with a 37-0 win.
In their last match, Zimbabwe was impressive maintaining their unbeaten run although the scoreline was a bit low after calling it a day thrashing neighbors Botswana 39-0.
Zimbabwe is among the tournament favorites as they will be back in action this Sunday having a date with Mauritius.
