INDUSTRY and business have commended government for relaxing COVID-19 lockdown measures, saying the new measures will promote economic activity in line with the aspirations of the National Development Strategy One.
The announcement of extended business operating hours, schools opening and return to normalcy comes at an opportune time when the region and the world is also opening up economic spaces, according to industrialist, Kipson Gundani.
“This is of course a welcome development that will certainly have a positive bearing to Zimbabwe’s economic growth which is targeted at 5.5 percent this year,” he said.
Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers President Mr Denford Mutashu also applauded government for the timely intervention that will solidify gains attained in 2021.
“As business we are very excited with this development which will obviously afford us to cover up for the lost time and help us stay on course with our regional peers,” he noted.
Government says it will continue to monitor the covid-19 situation and make necessary interventions.
