FOUR candidates have been cleared to contest the Highlanders Football Club elections on February 6 with the quartet vying for the post of Vice-Chairperson and Treasurer.

After closing all nominations on Monday for the vacant posts, the club’s elections committee has resolved to conduct the elections for Vice Chairperson and treasurer on February 6.

Four candidates have been cleared to contest, a week after the club’s annual general meeting.

Highlanders Electoral Court’s returning officer, Peter Dube said they have gone through the verification and vetting procedures and four candidates sailed through after fulfilling the constitutional demands to stand for elections.

“We went through all the constitutional demands as the electoral committee and we will make sure that the voting process will be clean and clear,” said Dube.

Outgoing Vice-Chairperson, Morden Ngwenya and Treasurer Donald Ndebele are ineligible after serving two consecutive terms.

This leaves Fiso Siziba and Babongile Sikhonjwa contesting for the Vice Chairperson’s post, while Busani Mthombeni and Xolisani Moyo will battle it out for the treasurer’s portfolio.
