THE 62ND edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) is set to be held from the 26th to the 30th of April focusing on crafting and reinventing value chains for economic development.

Organisers of the fair are confident of hosting a bigger and better multi-sectoral exhibition this year.

ZITF Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nicholas Ndebele said due to the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the trade showcase will focus on the need for strategic transformation in the configuration and operation of local and regional value chains.

“The pandemic accelerated and magnified problems that already existed in the supply chain by exposing previously unseen vulnerabilities due to national lockdowns and travel restrictions which temporarily stopped the flow of raw materials and finished goods, disrupting manufacturing. The trade showcase will offer a platform for economic players to sit down and formulate innovative home-grown solution that match global standards” he said.

After hosting a successful trade showcase where no COVID-19 case was recorded last year, the organisers of the fair will revert to the normal five days.

“We applaud the government for the inoculation drive as this enabled us to host last year’s exhibition successfully and we are optimistic of another safe exhibiting environment this year. We will continue to work with relevant authorities in managing a bio safe environment,” he added.

The exhibition will be held under the theme: ‘Rethink, Re-imagine, Re-invent Value Chains for Economic Development.
