Zimbabwean creatives have embraced the global spotlight provided by the Expo 2020 Dubai, with five visual artists showcasing their craft at the Zimbabwean Pavilion.
Curated by National Gallery of Zimbabwe Director Raphael Chikukwa, the ‘MaDzimbahwe’ arts exhibition running at the AKKA Gallery in Dubai features visual artworks by renowned artists including 1st generation sculptors Josiah Manzi, Danisile Ncube, Tusichile Kasito, Prudence Chimutuwah and Nothando Chiwanga.
The curator concurs with the artists that the showcase will help promote Zimbabwean visual art works and put the country on the world map.
“These artists are exposed to new audiences whose appetite for African art is what we need to take advantage of. It’s also to compliment the expo Dubai Zimbabwe pavilion. The exhibition will run until March .The exhibition is to showcase Zimbabwean artists to the Dubai audiences and promote our visual arts to a wider visitors. Our role and function is to do exhibitions not only in Zimbabwe but also outside the country as part of image building,” he said.
The exhibition is focusing on contemporary African Art with sculptures, paintings and photographs dominating the artworks on display.
The exhibition will be running until March this year.
