Foxes maintained their unbeaten run in the Harare Basketball Association league after edging UZ Stars 61-55 in an exciting match played at the University of Zimbabwe courts on Saturday.
It is six wins out of six for the former champions who have laid an early marker in the Harare Basketball Association after edging UZ Stars.
Even the vociferous home crowd and the diming lights would not stop Foxes from clawing their way to victory after trailing at half time.
The home side started strongly and took a 19-18 first quarter lead ably powered by Manoah Ntini and they stretched their lead by four points at the halfway interval leading 32 – 28.
However, Foxes started to show their class in the third quarter and duly took the lead for the first time in the match and in Kudakwashe Pote, a former JBC player, they have a man hungry to show his worth.
After getting a five point lead in the third quarter, the Kelvin Ben coached Foxes held on to eventually kill the contest at 61-55 and grab their sixth consecutive victory since the start of the season.
In other matches, JBC beat Cameo 56-46 while Bindu.ra University thumped a new look Harare City Hornets 51-30.
Arcadia Bucks walked away 58-51 winners over Raiders in a fast paced match.
In the ladies category, Charity ‘Chocky’ Muchuchuti marked her return to Vixens with a 14 point game to lead her team to a 49-28 victory over Bunnies.
Muchucuti was with Harare City Hornets for the past five years and she is one of the senior players who were deregistered by the municipal club after a standoff over non-payment of salaries.
The big centre retraced her footsteps to Vixens and it was like she never left as she dominated ably assisted by Evidence Kwayedza who had 10 rebounds.
Vixens just like their male counterparts Foxes are undefeated this season.
In other women’s league matches, Harare City Hornets with only under 23 players shocked JBC 55-41 before falling to 42-25 to UZ Sparks in their second match of the weekend while Greenstars walked over BLACK Rhinos.
