The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has entered into a landmark deal with pan African satellite television company Azam TV.
Broadcasting reforms instituted by the Second Republic have attracted Tanzanian headquartered pan African television company Azam TV to Zimbabwe.
The pan African satellite television is set to launch its services in Zimbabwe this month with the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) partnering the new entrant to feature its channels on the new platform.
ZBC Acting Director Human Resources and Public Relations Rumbi Moyo, confirmed the development which is set to provide wide array of choices to Zimbabwean viewers.
“We are excited that ZBC will feature on AZAM TV which is going to debut this month and our channel is already on their platform. Out 24 hour news channel is also going to feature as well as our music channel Jive TV and that is going to buttress our transformation as a broadcasting company,” said Moyo.
Azam TV operates in several African countries including Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zanzibar, Malawi and has set its sights on Zimbabwe to draw on the latest economic fortunes brought by the Second Republic.
The company acquired an operating licence from the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) and its 130 channels is a mix of drama, entertainment, sports, news, music and documentaries and ZBC’s appearance will add to the allure of the new satellite platform.
