Kadewere, Moyo boost for Warriors AFCON quest

THE Warriors preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off this Sunday in Cameroon have been boosted by the availability of two key players – France-based striker, Tino Kadewere and David Moyo who plies his trade in Scotland.

The duo jetted into Yaounde, Cameroon Monday evening.

The Warriors are still in the West African country’s capital and are scheduled to leave for their Group B base in Bafousam this Wednesday.

However, Captain Knowledge Musona and the England based duo of Admiral Muskwe and Jordan Zemura are yet to report for camp five days before the Warriors kick – off their campaign with a date against Senegal at the Bafousam Omnisport Stadium.

While Musona and Muskwe are expected to join their teammates before they travel to Bafousam, there are question marks over the availability of utility player Jordan Zemura who plays for Bournemouth in England after a COVID-19 outbreak at his club.

Five players are on standby if the worst news comes to the worst although the technical team is still working on the assumption that Zemura will be available.

There is however some good news with regards to fitness issues after the injured duo of midfielder Kudakwashe Mahachi and goalkeeper Petros Mhari had a light session after picking up injuries in the Warrior’s friendly match against Sudan.

Injuries have already forced Warriors midfield kingpins Marshal Munetsi and Marvelous Nakamba out of the 2021 AFCON.
