THE formation of the Chiadzwa Community Share Ownership Trust has brought hope for accelerated rural development and transformation of lives in Marange.

This means we will not rely on begging from mining companies but we will mine on our own. We will build clinics, construct schools, rehabilitate roads and start projects to end hunger using our funds. The new trust is now led by Chief Marange deputised by headmen Chiadzwa and headmen Mutsago and Headmen Mutsago.”

The new arrangement has a buy-in of the business community which is eager to see Marange developing into a mining town.

“We want to thank President Mnangagwa for granting us an opportunity to start a new beginning to ensure that there is development in Marange. We are supporting the initiative that should turn Marange into a mining town like other areas.”

Director in Manicaland Minister of State’s Office Mr Munyaradzi Rubaya assured the local community of continued government support in line with the devolution agenda.

“As a government, we have great respect for the Marange community in line with the devolution agenda that no development should take place without the participation of the local community. We want to thank the president for giving us a concession as a community. We need to form an investment vehicle to utilise the concession to manage the concession unity is key to progress.”

The Second Republic has shown commitment to the transformation of livelihoods of citizens through various initiatives, including the devolution programme, to ensure no one and no place is left behind.
