The Zimbabwe Handball Federation is confident of hosting a successful International Handball zone six tournament next year with the venues set to get a facelift.
Following an inspection of local facilities that will be used for the International Handball Zone Six Games by the Confederation of African Handball Federation, the Zimbabwe Handball Federation is hoping on work on the recommendations that will ensure the country hosts a successful tournament.
A local committee was recently appointed to take charge of the preparations in terms of facilities and other aspects ahead of the April 2022 games.
“The Zimbabwe Handball Federation has set up a local organising committee which is looking at the preparations for the zone six games and following an inspection that was done by the confederation of African handball federation on the facilities for the hosting of the games. What is left now is to revisit the playing venues, which needs some s sprucing up and some recommendation were also given and we hope as begin year 2022 those are some of the issues that are going to be addressed,” said Zim Handball Secretary General Edison Chiroodza.
The handball mother body has promised to stage several friendly matches before the Zone six competitions.
Countries expected to participate are: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa, Eswathini, Lesotho, Malawi, Botswana and Namibia.
Meanwhile, the under 18 and 20 junior teams have been in camp at Aquatic complex in Chitungwiza, with selected to be considered for the final team to represent the nation next year.
