The local football fraternity has been left in a soul-searching exercise after the World Football governing body-FIFA threatened to suspend Zimbabwe from international football if the ZIFA board is not reinstated by the 3rd of next month.
The local football fraternity has been left wondering in darkness following the recent developments.
Veteran football administrator, Ndumiso Gumede is hoping for common sense to prevail among the concerned parties adding that FIFA has absolute power over football matters.
“FIFA has absolute power over these matters, whatever they decide, that will happen. I really don’t think we should have allowed this situation to go to this extent. This matter could have been solved without getting to this situation where we are now. It is now in the hands of the authorities and if the SRC wants to dig in, then a ban is coming. We just have to wait and see,” Gumede noted.
The ball is now in SRC’s court as the nation patiently waits to see if the commission will stick to guns or ensure the national team will be part of the cast in Cameroon from the 9th of January.
