Captains of industry speak on COVID-19 lessons

By Lisa Masuku

The business community in Bulawayo says prospects for industrial growth and expansion are looking bright in the coming year as most entities have learnt how to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The key message is now on turning challenges into opportunities.

Economist Morris Mpala said: “We have had two or three years of doing nothing because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2022 is a time for businesses or industries to step up and do what needs to be done within the confines of the pandemic.”

Matabeleland Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Chairperson, Mr Mackenzie Dongo is convinced that 2022 will be a good year for industry thanks to the massive COVID-19 vaccination drive.

“Thanks to the government vaccination drive because it will help fight the spread of the pandemic amongst our staff members,” he said.

For the past two years, most businesses have had to scale down operations because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
