Mutare based, Manica Diamonds are proving to be the surprise package of the season after maintaining their 100 percent record in Premier Soccer League with a giant killing act at the weekend.
Having struggled in the Chibuku Super Cup, Manica Diamonds are proving doubters wrong with a100 percent record after three outings in the league campaign.
A one-nil victory over Bulawayo giants, Highlanders propelled Manica Diamonds to the top of the log standings with nine points overtaking Ngezi Platinum Stars, who have seven points from three games.
While it is early days, the Ngoda Boys’ victory over giants Highlanders was a huge statement of intent.
Bosso now find themselves in the relegation zone after slumping to 16th on the log, with just a single point.
It was also a good weekend for Harare giants, Dynamos who bounced back to winning ways after gunning down Craneborne Bullets one-nil.
It was the Glamour Boys’ second win from three matches, while it is reality check for the winless Hurricanes who are now the bottom four with a single point.
ZPC Kariba seem to have recovered from a poor start after thrashing Triangle United 3-nil at Nyamhunga stadium to climb up to 7th position with four points, while Triangle are 10th with three points.
The best match of the weekend was in Gweru where Whawha and Bulawayo City dished out a 6-goal thriller in a 3-all draw at Ascot Stadium.
Whawha now have two points from three matches, while Bulawayo City have a point.
It was, however not a smooth run in the PSL with several other matches being postponed due to Covid-19 related issues.
Meanwhile, the Premier Soccer League is heading for a festive season break which will see action resuming after the Africa Cup of Nations running from 9th of January to the 6th of February in Cameroon.
