THE business community has welcomed the commissioning of the Kudzanayi bus terminus, saying the new-look market will help in creating business opportunities in the Midlands province and the country at large.

The new-look Kudzanayi long-distance bus terminus has become the envy of many, as it has modern facilities including automated gates and up to standard vending stalls and toilet facilities.

The structures, which were commissioned by President Emerson Mnangagwa this Monday were upgraded through a Public-Private Partnership initiative which has impressed the business community.

“The Infrastructure of such a nature naturally attracts investments. The good thing is that the whole structure was done by local people. We want to see more of such structures across the country as they can take a cue from the city of progress. This is a very commendable development and we expect business to boom,” said Solomon Matsi.

“We as cross-boarders are happy with the way this place has been upgraded. By coming up with such a structure the government has managed to deal with the menace of touts. We can now ferry our passengers to a very safe place where they can also buy everything they want at the market,” said Thomas Masa, Gweru cross-border association Chairperson.

The government has committed to continue improving the standards of small to medium entrepreneurs in line with the National Development strategy 1.

“Supporting SMEs is critical for us to achieve vision 2030. We want to ensure that the quality of products for SMEs is critical. Decent work conditions are a necessity. We need to put our mindset towards working for the betterment of our beloved country. SMEs constitute a great deal of our GDP. They deserve our support and we will make sure that this important sector is taken care of,” said Dr Sithembiso Nyoni.

The refurbishment of the market stalls at Kudzanayi long-distance bus terminus which was facilitated by the government has seen the rank accommodating 800 vendors and over 100 buses a day.
