The industrial sector has assured the nation of enough supplies of basic commodities at affordable prices ahead of the anticipated surge in demand during the festive season.

Domestic agricultural produce enough to sustain industry needs over the festive season and beyond.

Industry has therefore underpinned the availability of basic commodities to the 2021 bumper harvest, where agricultural produce which is the source of raw materials is available in large volumes.

According to the Chairman of Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe Mr Tafadzwa Musarara, as result of the excess output, prices of major raw materials are going down while competition among manufacturers is eliminating the possibility of price increases.

“We are delighted and encouraged with the level of our raw materials and our increased production capacity for 2021 and we are optimistic that we will certainly be meeting any form of increased demand this forthcoming festive season,” Musarara said.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers President Mr Denford Mutashu concurred highlighting that consumers are guaranteed fair business ethics from Retailers.

Said Mutashu: “As the retail sector we are ready to play our role in the economy in the fairest possible manner and I can confirm that we will not experience any supply gaps as we have built enough stock to sustain us through the holidays.”

The 2021 festive season might be left engraved in the hearts of many as government has already set the ball rolling by paying civil servants United States Dollar bonuses while the private sector is anticipated to follow suit.
