Consumers hail local goods availability, expect price stability

By Wellington Makonese

CONSUMERS are expecting more measures to consolidate price stability as the availability of locally produced commodities improves.

A snap survey in the wholesale sector showed that local products dominating shelves have better quality and are coming at generally lower prices compared to imported merchandise.

Consumers revealed that while the quality of locally produced goods has improved it is, however, pricing modalities that need to be addressed.

Players in the wholesale industry say the improved quality and low production costs will attract more products while Buy Zimbabwe expects a bigger market share for local industry.

This comes as a one week Buy Zimbabwe campaign started this Monday to increase the competitiveness of the local products and services in line with the National Development Strategy One.
