THE Zimbabwe National cricket team, the Lady Chevrons lost by 8 runs to Thailand in their One Day International group stage ICC World Cup qualifier at Harare Sports Club this morning.
Thailand won the toss and opted to bate first with Nattakam Chantam.
The visitors reached the target of 247 runs for a loss of six wickets in fifty overs as Zimbabwe’s bowlers, Francesca Chipare and Loreen Tshuma managed to collect two wickets in ten overs.
In reply, Zimbabwe’s Lady Chevrons took their turn to bat and quickly posted 43 runs without loss of wickets in 15 overs.
The host nation was, however, slow as they reached half of the overs with 95 runs and having lost just one wicket.
The Lady Chevrons failed to hit the target set by Thailand after they reached 207 runs with a loss of 3 wickets and only left with 5 overs to call it a day.
Zimbabwe, Unfortunately, ended their 50 overs with 239 for a loss of 5 wickets as Thailand claimed victory with 8 runs.
Zimbabwe will face the USA on Wednesday.
