The Zimbabwe women national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, will face Thailand in the first match of the International Cricket Council World Cup Qualifiers which get underway in Harare this Sunday.

Despite the whitewash by Bangladesh in their One Day International series held in Bulawayo, the Lady Chevrons are still confident of earning a place at the Women’s World Cup.

The series was a build-up to the International Cricket Council World Cup qualifiers which will see Zimbabwe hosting the ten-nation tournament in Harare starting this Sunday.

Although Zimbabwe succumbed to a series whitewash at the hands of Bangladesh, the Lady Chevrons are optimistic of better fortunes.

Zimbabwe is in Pool B alongside Pakistan who seem to be the biggest threat in the group, with the other teams being Bangladesh, Thailand and United States.

The Lady Chevrons will get their campaign underway with a date against Thailand at Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

Thailand are ranked 11th , one slot above Zimbabwe.

The ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers will take place at four separate venues which include Takashinga Cricket Club, Harare Sports Club, Sunrise Cricket Club and Old Hararians.
