Treasury says the 2022 national budget, which will be presented on the 25th of this month, is being crafted in line with National Development Strategy One.
Finance and Economic Development Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube outlined the budget crafting process when he attended the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Day on Thursday, revealing that the fiscal plan is underpinned by the National Development Strategy One.
He also paid tribute to the Indian government for extending credit lines and grants to Zimbabwe.
“Following the 2022 budget strategy paper in July under the theme: Reinforcing Sustainable Economic Growth and Resilience, the final budget is now being prepared. This is the second budget in the implementation of our blueprint the NDS1. We are grateful to the government of India for the support that we have received. The support has gone towards various sectors such as energy, agriculture, water, health and human capital investment,” he said.
The Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Vijay Khanduja expressed commitment towards cementing bilateral co-operation in economic and technical skills training.
“It is our strong belief that strengthening and augmenting national capacities are essential to bringing progress to our people, we remain guided by our long-standing ties with Zimbabwe since independence. The ITEC e-itec and all our other capacity building initiatives embody our belief that growth and prosperity of the world and indivisible and India stands ready to play its part by sharing skills and technical expertise that has acquired over decades of its development journey,” said Khanduja.
Beneficiaries of the ITEC programme applauded the government for facilitating skills exchange with India.
Zimbabwe has long-standing ties with India with the ITEC programme training locals in fields such as environmental audit, human resource planning, remote sensing and security, among others.
