Harare City Hornets Basketball Club has withdrawn from the FIBA Zone 6 Women’s qualifiers which will be held in Luanda, Angola from the 14th of this month citing logistical

Reigning Harare Basketball Association (HBA) and national champions, Harare City Hornets have been in camp for the past two weeks preparing for the qualifiers.

The tournament was initially slated for Luanda, Angola before being moved to Johannesburg, South and then back to Luanda just eight days before the competition gets underway.

The confusion has left Harare City Hornets with no choice but to pull out.

We are left with no option but to take this unfortunate decision after the last minute change of venue from Johannesburg, to Luanda, Angola. The budget to Angola is beyond our reach as a club as it multiplies by more than three times and considering the time frame it can’t happen, said Sani Mbofana-Harare City Hornets Spokesperson

The team has however continued with its training sessions as they are now preparing for the HBA.

Confidence is high after Hornets won the pre-season tournament.
