LLOYD Chitembwe has made a sensational return to Caps United after the Harare giants unveiled him as the new Head Coach following the departure of Darlington Dodo.
Local football’s worst kept secret has finally been confirmed after Caps United legend, Lloyd Chitembwe was unveiled as the club’s head coach at the National Sports Stadium this Monday.
The former Caps United captain was in charge of Harare City’s last encounter on Friday and tendered his resignation this morning before retracing his footsteps to the club that gave him fame.
Chitembwe left Makepekepe in 2019 after leading them to league glory in 2016 and comes back to replace Darlington Dodo who was sacked last week after a string of poor results.
“I am happy to be back home and I will bring a work ethic and mental attitude that will enable us to get good results and win the league eventually,” said Lloyd Chitembwe.
With Chitembwe being the most decorated CAPS United son having won three league titles as a player and one as a Coach the club’s administration hopes history will repeat itself.
“We know what Chitembwe can do, he has won the league before and he was our former captain so he has the club’s DNA and we trust that he will win the league again that’s why we have given him a three year contract so as to build his squad in time,” said Farai Jere, Caps United President.
Chitembwe has also brought in a host of his trusted lieutenants in Nelson Matongere, who will be his first assistant, while Fungai Kwashi and Tonderai Marume will also be part of the new Caps United technical team.
