Good start for Platinum Miners

By Anashe Murombedzi

IT was goals galore in the opening weekend of the Premier Soccer League with FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum making an early statement of intent after scoring a combined 11 goals.

Call it early warning shots or laying down a marker but what is not debatable is that FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum will be the teams to beat this season after taking their Chibuku Super Cup form to the league.

Defending champions, FC Platinum were ruthless as they pumped six goals past a hapless Tenax side which only scored one in reply.

Pure Platinum is ahead of Ngezi Platinum on goals scored after the Mhondoro based side’s emphatic 5-nil thrashing of Bulawayo City.

Manica Diamonds also came good, cruising past Whawha 4-nil to claim the third spot on the log.

Black Rhinos are also in the mix after a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Bulawayo giants, Highlanders.

Dynamos got the job done through a solitary goal against a battling Yadah at the giant National Sports Stadium.

Herentals also bagged three points after a 1-nil victory over Harare city, while Triangle United suffered an away defeat to Bulawayo Chiefs who scored the only goal of the match.

New boys, Cranborne Bullets who have been riding high in the Chibuku Super Cup got a timely reminder that the league is a different proposition after falling1-0 to Chicken Inn.

ZPC Kariba and Caps United shared the spoils in a goalless draw at Nyamhunga Stadium in Kariba.
