Gems settle for the bronze medal at the Pent Series

THE Zimbabwe Netball team, the Gems, clinched bronze at the unforgettable Pent Series held in Windhoek, Namibia.

The Gems drew 52-all with Zambia in their last match and were initially tied on point with hosts Namibia.

Uganda’s win against Namibia was therefore a relief to the Gems.

The round robin tourney saw Zimbabwe finishing third, with two wins against the host nation Namibia and Kenya while they lost to Malawi and Uganda and drew with Zambia.

The Gems finished third with five points to claim bronze at the Pent Series.

Uganda takes home the gold medal after winning all matches to collect ten points while Malawi are second with eight points.

Namibia dropped to fourth, with Zambia on fifth and winless Kenya sixth.

The Gems are now preparing for the Africa Championship which get underway this Tuesday with regional powerhouse South Africa joining the fray.
