By Anashe Murombedzi

The Zimbabwe Netball team, the Gems shared spoils with Zambia in their last Pent series encounter in Windhoek, Namibia this Friday.

The Gems started on a good note and took the lead, which was however short-lived as their opponents made a quick turnaround to ensure the first quarter ended 12-all.

Zambia came into the second quarter stronger but Zimbabwe fought hard to reduce the score-line to 29-26 in favour of their Zambia heading into the second break.

The last two quarters were tense, with both teams aggressive in their shooting circles.

The match was then to end 52-all, as Zimbabwe finished third at the 6-team Pent Series behind log leaders, Uganda and second placed Malawi.

Namibia came out fourth, Zambia fifth and Kenya sixth.

With the Pent series done and dusted, focus is now on the African Championships which kick off on Tuesday, with regional powerhouse South Africa joining in.
