Gems take on hosts Namibia

By Anashe Murombedzi

THE Zimbabwe Netball team, the Gems will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat to Uganda when they take on hosts Namibia in their fourth match at the on-going Pent Series this afternoon.

The Gems have had a slow start to the tournament, suffering defeat at the hands of regional rivals, Malawi before beating Kenya in their second match.

However, the joy did not last long as Zimbabwe went on to lose their third match to Uganda this Wednesday.

The Gems still have a chance to make up for lost ground when they face Namibia this afternoon.

The task is however not that simple as Namibia have won two matches from three outings so far while the Gems only have one victory from the same number of games.

The Gems will play their last Pent Series match against Zambia on Friday before focus shifts to the African Championships tournament, which gets underway on Monday.

The Pent Series and the African Championships will provide the Gems with an opportunity to make it to the 2023 Netball World Cup slated for South Africa.
