Sables in camp for quadrangular series

THE Zimbabwe Senior men rugby team, the Sables are preparing for the Quadrangular series that will be held from the 12th to the 20th of this month in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
The Zimbabwe senior men ruby team is back in camp with 26 players converging in Stellenbosch, South Africa ahead of the Quadrangular series which will see them taking on Brazil, Kenya and Namibia.
The Sables will face Brazil on the 14th, but before that they have a chance to test their strength against South African rugby franchise, the Cheetahs on the 6th in Bloemfontein.
The Sables will be missing five key players in Brendon Mandivenga, Farai Mudariki, Shayne Makombe, Blithe Mavesere and Doug Jusyzky through injury.
Europe and America based Vernon Matongo, Munashe Mhere, Nyasha Tarusenga and Munashe Muchena will not be part of the team due to COVID-19 related travel complications.
Head Coach Brendan Dawson believes the tournament is an opportunity for young players to impress.
“We are looking at trying new combinations, the World Cup qualifiers are coming and this is the best time to judge were we are against the big boys. This is an opportunity for youngsters to stack a claim in the jersey,” said Brendan Dawson, the Sables Head Coach.
Zimbabwe is using the current tour to prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers set for France next year.
