The annual Sanganai/Hlanganani Expo which ended this Friday has provided a lifeline for the country’s tourism industry.
Business events are the silver lining for the tourism industry as highlighted at the just concluded Sanganai/Hlanganani tourism fair where local players relaunched their brand campaign on the international market.
Government launched the Meetings , Incentives , Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) concept targeted at rebooting the industry which had suffered a major setback due to the Covid19 pandemic.
The concept will certainly improve the GDP and improve the value chain. It will expand the tourism sector, said Dr Jenfan Muswere- Acting Minister Environment Tourism and Hospitality
Effective utilisation of the exhibition and conferencing space was sighted as an opportunity to unlock millions in value.
M.I.C.E offers the low hanging recovery of any destination . After the lock down restrictions, business events resumed much faster than leisure travel confirming that this is an avenue that now holds the future and success of the industry, noted Mr Givemore Chidzidzi – ZTA Acting Chief Executive.
Global tourism leaders estimate that business events will grow exponentially to 1, 4 trillion United States dollars within the next two years.
