Ngezi Platinum square off with Chicken Inn

By ZBC Reporter

Ngezi Platinum coach, Rodwell Dhlakama has rallied his troops to be at their best when they take on Chicken Inn in the first quarter-final of the Chibuku Super Cup this Saturday.

A potentially exciting encounter featuring Chicken Inn and Ngezi Platinum Stars will signal the beginning of the Chibuku Super Cup quarter finals this Saturday.

The best team in group two, Chicken Inn came out of the group stage unscathed, while Ngezi Platinum were runners up in group four after losing one match to rivals, FC Platinum.

While they were impressive in front of goal with 16 goals in the group stage, Ngezi Platinum have defensive worries which they hope to rectify in the match against Chicken Inn.

We have been leaking goals a bit and it’s something we talked about as a team that we need to eradicate yes in our last game we tried some few combinations but still we should do better, said Dhlakama.

Chicken Inn have been solid at the back, conceding just two goals in the group stages, while Ngezi leaked in seven goals.

The match kicks off at 11am with all the quarter finals set for Baobab stadium in Mhondoro Ngezi.

The second match of the day at 3pm will be a showdown between defending champions, Highlanders who have been poor in front of goal and premier league champions, FC Platinum whose forwards Rodwell Chinyengetere and Silas Songani have scored seven goals between them.

On Sunday, High flying new boys Cranborne Bullets take on two-time champions Harare City in the early kick off.

While they left it until the last day of the group stage to make it to the quarter finals, Harare City seem to reserve the best for the Chibuku Super Cup and in William Manondo they have an arsenal who is the all-time leading scorer of the competition.

The last match of the quarter finals will see steamrolling Dynamos clashing with group three runners up Black Rhinos at 3.pm.
