Baseball and Softball Association (BASA) in the Bulawayo Metropolitan province has rolled out a girl child developmental program through promotion of softball at grassroots level.
The junior development of softball is expected to improve sport in the province.
An aspiring young female baseball player said: “My brother is a baseball player and this drive has enthralled me to emulate him and also achieve my dream.”
“I want to be an international player of softball and this grassroots development will help me to go further steps,” another said.
Bulawayo Metropolitan Baseball and Softball association Chairperson, Eldon Mudzingwa explained the importance of empowering the girl child through sport from grassroots level.
“It is important to empower the girl child from a tender, because it gives and equips them with the much-needed knowledge of the sport from an early age,” Mudzingwa said.
Baseball and Softball Association (BASA) in the Bulawayo Metropolitan province is on a recruitment drive for more teams to play in the elite provincial league.
