The gala organised by the Bulawayo Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) will see swimmers that post the best times being selected into the provincial team.
“Athletes that will post best times will have the advantage of being selected for the provincial team that will participate at the Matabeleland championships next month,” said Phawulani Ngwenya, Bulawayo Amateur Swimming Association Chairperson.
The swimming gala will offer a platform for Two under 16s boys Tichaona Makhaya (15) and 14-year-old Onismus Ngwenya to prepare for all Africa Junior Championships set for Ghana on October 15.
“I think this weekend gala will offer a good platform for our two Bulawayo boys who are going to represent us in the all Africa Junior Championships in Ghana,” said Ngwenya.
Swimmers will battle it out in the 50m freestyle, 100m backstrokes, 100m butterfly as well as the 200 and 800m freestyle.
