The Mighty Warriors have bowed out of the COSAFA Women’s Championship despite a 3-nil win over Botswana this Monday.
After picking just three points in their first two encounters, the Mighty Warriors needed to win by a big margin to progress to the semi-finals.
They seemed on course in the match against Botswana after opening the scoring through Privilege Mupeti just before halftime.
Captain Emmaculate Msipa doubled the advantage before Rudo Neshamba rounded off the scoring with her second goal of the tournament to complete a three-nil win.
The victory was, however, not enough to take them to the semifinals as the best placed runners up after Malawi sneaked through ahead of the Mighty Warriors with the same number of points but with a better goal difference.
It is the second successive season that the Mighty Warriors have bowed out of the tournament at the group stage.
