JB Matiza wins against Mbizi Sports

FIVE aside football club, JB Matiza thrashed Mbizi Sports 6-1 in the Five-A-Side JB Matiza Memorial Tournament at Mbare Netball Complex this Saturday.
The JB Matiza Five-A-Side Memorial Tournament took place at the Mbare Netball Complex, in the capital with six teams competing for the top prize.
The day opened with the first encounter which saw Highgate edging Real Stars one nil in an exciting under 12 clash.
On the women’s side, Mbare Select B beat Select A, 7-6 on penalties after the match had ended one all in regulation time.
The toss between JB Matiza and Mbizi Sports attracted Mbare soccer lovers as JB Matiza boys ruthlessly vanquished the Zebras 6-1 and won the tournament.
Retired football star, Edward Sadomba, showed off his power play and clinched the Man of the Match Award.
The late Joel Biggie Matiza’s wife, Lilly Matiza, who hosted the memorial tournament, said the games are in honour of the impact JB Matiza had in the Five-A-Side league locally.
Meanwhile, ZIFA technical director Wilson Mutekede highlighted the significance of the tournament.
The tournament is being staged in memory of the late National Hero Honourable Joel Biggie Matiza who was the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development as well as one of the founding fathers of Futsal in Zimbabwe.
