The Zimbabwe senior women national football team, the Mighty Warriors have intensified preparations for the COSAFA Women’s Championship set for Nelson Mandela Bay in South Africa from the 28th of this month to the 9th of October.
The 29-member team is in camp at the ZIFA village and conducting training sessions at the National Sports Stadium.
The team last tasted competitive action in 2019, but with eight players having played for Black Rhinos Queens at inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League, COSAFA qualifiers, the team is optimistic of a good performance.
Team manager Tafadzwa Bhasera was ecstatic: “Moral is high and we are optimistic of a food performance. We have girls from Black Rhinos who are in better shape and remember, we are the Mighty Warriors and we deliver.”
The team has also been boosted by the availability of Spain based captain Emmaculate Msipa who is now in camp.
The Mighty Warriors are expected to leave for the regional tournament on the 27th of this month.
