ZIFA fires Logarusic; Warriors’ technical team disbanded

By ZBC Reporter

ZIFA has finally parted ways with the Zimbabwe senior men’s team head coach Zidravko Logarusic.

With only one win in 14 games, it was clear that the Warriors hunt was meandering in a pool of irrelevance, with no hope for a win.

Although the nation had been patient at first, calls for a change to the losing streak have been growing louder.

Shouts for the head of the under-fire Warriors coach Zidravko Logarusic gained momentum following a disappointing draw to South Africa and a disgraceful defeat to Ethiopia in the World Cup qualifiers, all eyes were on the football mother body on whether to keep or to part ways with the Croatian gaffer.

Following this disgraceful performance ZIFA met this Sunday and decided to part ways with Loga, with Warriors technical department set to be revamped.

We have agreed to part ways in an amicable way with the man’s team coach Zidravko Logarusic,he said.

Loga joined the Warriors coaching department as Head Coach in February last year, inking a 2-year deal.

During his tenure in the Warriors dugout, Logarusic has overseen 14 games and won only one, the decisive 1-0 win over Botswana in an AFCON qualifier, which confirmed the team’s participation at the continental showcase slated for Cameroon next January.

The team went from being record holders to whipping boys of the regional COSAFA showpiece, weeping tears too, with Logarusic assuring football fans that he would silence his critics come September.

The World Cup qualifiers against South Africa at home and Ethiopia away continued on the slide, thus sealing his fate.

Logarusic’s charges did not only fail to win either of them, they failed to score home and away with produced timid amateur displays.

The nation’s wait for the exit of the Croat is finally a reality. After 14 dismissal performances by the Warriors, Loga finally logs out.
