The local football mother body ZIFA has been challenged to confront real issues leading to the Warriors’ poor performance after parting ways with Croatian Coach Zdravko Logarusic.
Football fans are convinced the senior national football team’s shortcomings go beyond individual coaches, challenging the football mother body to put its house in order for football to thrive.
“We are fully behind ZIFA’s decision, but our question is whether coaches are the problem. As supporters we feel our problems start with ZIFA. What do they use as a yardstick for a coach’s success? Does the ZIFA board know that the coach’s success starts in the field of play,” a fan commented.
Outspoken Coach Luke Masomere summed it up saying the ZIFA leadership has been exposed for its poor choices.
“I am one person who has fought in Loga’s corner and still believe the environment was not ripe for good results to come. We have our own local coaches, but ZIFA seem to be doubting them,” football coach Luke Masomere said.
To demonstrate that local Coaches are probably better, the Warriors have qualified for the last four editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, twice under Sunday Chidzambwa with Charles Mhlauri and Kalisto Pasuwa also making their mark while Joey Antipas laid the foundation for the fifth appearance.
Zifa are expected to name a replacement for Loga anytime from now and it remains to be seen whether the environment will be permit the next coach to steer the Warriors back to yester year glory.
