WOMEN from Zvishavane are benefiting from the empowerment drive in the mining sector with most of them now running successful ventures.
Navigating the bumpy mining terrain has not been a stroll in the park for most women.
However, the story is different in Zvishavane where women are now taking charge thanks to an empowerment drive by the Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association which is equipping them with knowledge and the necessary tools.
Speaking after an assessment tour, secretary of the Zvishavane Women in Mining, Sophia Takuva said the empowerment initiative has helped in capacitating women with the requisite skills.
The government has rolled out women empowerment initiatives across all sectors of the economy with those in mining expected to contribute to the envisaged US$12 Billion mining economy in two years.
