Premier Soccer league teams have hit the ground running in terms of preparing for the resumption of football with Ngezi Platinum and Chicken Inn back in training.

Mhondoro based Premier soccer league side Ngezi Platinum and former Champions Chicken Inn are taking the lead in terms of preparing for the imminent return of local football.

Ngezi Platinum confirmed on their twitter handle that the players are back in training with the practice sessions taking place at their home ground Baobab stadium.

Former Champions Chicken Inn are also back in training and used their twitter page to confirm that they have hit the ground running as they prepare for the resumption of football.

Elsewhere, The Zimbabwe Volleyball Association is preparing for the imminent resumption of the sport with the Zimbabwe Open tournament on the cards.

The Zimbabwe Open Tournament will be staged at four regional venues including Bulawayo, Harare, Masvingo and the Midlands.

Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) Secretary General Kenneth Kondo says they are engaging clubs to clear the air on Covid-19 vaccination which is now a basic requirement.

It is a perfect time for us also to begin preparations in earnest for that tournament. However, we do appreciate as ZVA that sport has to be played in a safe environment and we as the mother board of Volleyball we are great proponents of safe sport. We are engaging our provincial chairpersons closely that they engage their clubs to give us updates on the vaccination drive, he said.

Besides the Zim Open Tournament, ZVA is preparing for the Zone Six Club Championships and beach volleyball tournaments set to be held before the end of the year.

The resumption of sport comes at a perfect time for the volleyball national under 20 team that is set to participate for the first time at the African Union Region Five tournament slated for Lesotho.
