Black Rhinos Queens off to a good start

Black Rhinos Queens got off to a good start in the COSAFA qualifiers for the CAF Women Champions League after beating Green Buffaloes of Zambia two-nil this Friday in Durban, South Africa.

Veteran Midfielder Merjury Nyaumwe on loan from Correctional Stars headed the Zimbabwean champions in front on the hour mark as the battle of the Army sides took centre stage.

Youngster Cristobel Katona made sure the three points were theirs with a neat finish, 15 minutes before fulltime to give Chipembere Ladies a two-goal cushion.

Black Rhinos created numerous opportunities but lacked precision in front of goal as the effects of lack of game time were laid bare.

I am delighted with the team, without much preparations to come here and win the first game against a team that gas been active is a massive achievement, said the team’s Coach Kuda Matuwi

The win put Rhinos Queens in a commanding position in the three-team Group B.

They face Tura Magic of Namibia in their next game on Sunday knowing that a win will take them to the next stage of the competition.

This Saturday Group A takes centre stage with favourites Mamelodi Sundowns taking on Double Action while Lesotho Defence forces battle Manzini Wanderers.
