Zimtrade to take over 30 companies to Durban fair

More than 30 local companies are set to participate at the Inter Africa Trade Fair to be held in Durban, South Africa in November as part of the country’s export growth strategy.

The second Inter Africa Trade Fair premiers in Durban, South Africa next month and the country’s trade promotion body, Zimtrade will highlight Zimababwe’s participation at the event alongside other local companies.

Speaking to ZBC News Zimtrade Chief Executive Officer Mr Allan Majuru explained how the platform works citing its importance to Zimbabwe .

The fair is a platform that harnesses our export growth strategy prospects which dovetails with the National Development Strategy One blueprint and as you see that last year exports grew by over 18% hence this fair will further provide chances of growing exports,he said.

An exhibitor from a local company Mr Leslie Marange who is in food processing said the company seeks to capitalise on the exhibition to grow its exports where political and business stakeholders from the continent will converge.

As an up and coming business this is the first time for us to participate at the fair and we are excited by the opportunities that will be presented by the fair in terms of giving us the chance to showcase our products,said Marange.

Exporters from the continent will scramble for unrivalled trade opportunities to the tune of 44 billion US dollars that come with the event and Zimbabwe’s participation at the fair three years ago in Egypt created export business for the country worth over 18 million US dollars.
