Government gives national project status to Expo 2020 Dubai

The country has stepped up preparations for the Expo 2020 Dubai by granting the event national project status that will market Zimbabwe to more than 190 countries set to converge in Dubai for six months.

The Expo 2020 Dubai is set to be the right tonic for Zimbabwe in its re-engagement and engagement agenda with the country set to showcase its competitive advantages and products across all sectors.

Zimbabwe’s exhibition pavilion at the Expo is strategically located at the heart of the Expo village and has already been completed, with the majestic Victoria Falls outstanding.

Zimbabwe has been allocated March 14 next year as its National Day where His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa will lead the marketing of the country.

“The preparations are progressing very well and as a country we are focusing on areas of strength from tourism to mining as we try to lure investors into the country for sustainable economic development,” said Commissioner General Expo 2020 Dubai, Ambassador Mary Mubi.

Zimbabwe will also leverage on its supportive private sector which has shown interest to partner government, which ten companies drawn from the tourism sector having already confirmed their participation.

“The willingness to participate from the private sector has been encouraging and we continue call more to join the train,” Ambassador Mubi added.

According to economic observers, the country is expected to drive meaningful benefits from the Expo that will help Zimbabwe achieve vision 2030.
